GX7 Electric Row Monitoring
The GX7 Electric Row Monitoring is one of AgXcel’s most advanced products. With the increased usage of biological fertilizers & humic acids, the sight glass manifolds have become useless due to the fertilizers being so dark that the user can’t see if the balls are floating. This inspired us at AgXcel, to make our own Electric Row Monitor Solution. The GX7 is an ISOBUS Electric Row Monitor System that utilizes Magnetic Flowmeters to monitor the flow of each row through the Virtual Terminal of your existing ISOBUS compatible display in the cab.
AgXcel has chosen to use magnetic flowmeters due to the reliability of the technology. We have found through testing several flowmeter types that the magnetic flowmeters are the only flowmeter that will accurately monitor the flow of each row when changing between fertilizer types or when the viscosity of the fertilizer changes.
The very first version of the GX7 used turbine flowmeters. We found out quickly that the turbine flowmeters are an unacceptable option due to the turbine in the flowmeters quickly becoming plugged due to the impurities or micros in the fertilizers that are commonly used for electric row monitor systems. The magnetic flowmeters have no moving parts, meaning that there is no change of blockage inside of the flowmeter due to a mechanical component.
We have also chosen to only use an ISOBUS controller only due to the reliability of ISOBUS. Other competitors may use an Android or IOS tablet with a downloadable app. They then rely on either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to connect to a board that is out by the pump system on the implement. Of course the problem with this is constant connectivity failures. This is an unacceptable option for AgXcel, due to the importance of needing to be able to consistently be updated on the status of every row.
Connecting to the ISOBUS also gives us the ability to function with prescription rate usage. The user has the ability to activate a setting called Prescription Rate Control. This setting will look on the task controller for the target rate set by your liquid controller. Whenever the target rate on your liquid controller changes, the GX7 will see the change on the task controller and adjust the target rate of the GX7. This is a huge convenience feature not available with many competitor row monitor systems.
Another consideration to utilizing an electric row monitor system for your setup, even if you are just using a 10-34-0 infurrow fertilizer or a 32% Nitrogen fertilizer, is the quality of the batch you receive. When the GX7 is paired with an AgXcel GX2 Electric Pump System or a GX5 Hydraulic Pump System, you can use a larger mesh filter, such as a 30 mesh filter, and also utilize the GX6 Microtubes. This will allow the impurities and chunks of debris to pass through the pump, microtubes, & flowmeters without plugging any component throughout the entire plumbing system. The 30 mesh filter can still do its job and catch large debris such as pebbles, seed, or solid chunks fertilizer, but also allow the micro nutrients to make it into the furrow.
But the GX7 does not have to be used with an AgXcel pump system or plumbing. The GX7 is a separate product that can be used with any pump or plumbing scenario. AgXcel can configure the GX7 to match any existing plumbing you already have in place. The GX7 can also be used in conjunction with a sight glass manifold if preferred. Or else you can use the GX7 flowmeters as the manifold and bypass any kind of sight glass manifold.
